I am working on new ways to promote my writing. I saw this on TikTok and I thought I would try it on one of my own poems. This one is short because I made it for Tiktok but I am making them longer. I try to do 30 minutes for writing sprints and then 8 hours to help people sleep or if they are writing all day.

I am what you call an indie writer which means I publish my own books. I tried to work with a publisher, but it did not go well. I learned a lot from working with them, and from writing over the years.Â
Now I am writing the last book in my series the Shadow Realm Chronicles and still I do not know how to market the book. It worries me sometimes that I have put all this energy into this project and because of that no one will read it. I recently got a review that was not the best and it made me think. Do I really know how to write? Are my books just crap? I know all writers have people who don’t like their books, and everyone has their own taste, but man that killed me.Â
I found that when I write, I am less stressed. So that act of writing keeps me grounded and focused. When I am not writing, for any reason, I am more stressed and irritable.Â
I also like being creative. My books series, I think is fun. It is the story about a family that is cursed and through generations they try and overcome this darkness.Â
Book 1 The Shadow Realm Chronicles Maeve

I heard about this book in a writing group I am in. The author was in it at one point, and he shared his book. I decided to read one indie book a month this year as I myself am an indie writer. I did not expect much from this book, but it was amazing. The way the other describes things and how the story captivated me, were intriguing. It kept me wanting to figure out who Leaf was and how and why he waws in Jovan’s care.
I highly recommend this book. I listened to it on audible and I was impressed. The author read the book and at first when I saw that I did not expect much, but the book sounded like it was done at a professional studio. I need to figure out how to do that.

I have been writing for years. I started writing my first book in 2009 after I miscarriage my first child. It was published in 2008. It was horrible. So, I rewrote it and published it again under a new name in 2018. Then I started writing poetry and a paranormal book series. But I feel like none of what I write gets read. I learned a lot about writing and how to publish but it feels like nothing I do is right. Marketing is a struggle for me. I worked extensively with an artist for my book covers and editors to make my books perfect, but still, I can’t get them to see. At times it makes me want to stop but then inspiration hits and I want to write something new. Depression and anxiety definitely get in the way. When will I be able to say I made it? When should I stop and realize it is not worth it? When is enough, enough?

I need help marketing and none of my books are selling and I am at a loss.
As a writer, we need to specialize in many things. We need to tell interesting stories, use proper grammar, have captivating covers and then market our books. I struggle with marketing.
I have put so much time and money into my books that I don’t see a point anymore. It is not about making money; it’s about sharing my story. Of course, making money would be nice, but I want people to read my works. I want people to experience the worlds I have created.
So, I am at a loss. I have many ideas for future books, but I am finding it difficult to keep going. I have a full-time job, and a family, and although I would love to stay at home and write, that is not something I can do right now. Plus, I love being a teacher.
In the past, people have told me to make a Facebook page, put your book on these sites, and share your work. I have done those things and I am still not selling my books. What have you done to market your books? Have you hired a professional? I would appreciate any advice.
