There was a rather large house on the edge of town. Most never went over that way since it was on the other side of the river. At this time, most of the town of River’s peak was at the funeral for Hunter Marks. No one was there to see this sight.
In a matter of moments the fire place came alive just as it did when Jonathan came to see Meave.
He walked out of the fireplace and dusted himself off. He walked over and pulled a sheet off a long mirror. He looked over himself in the mirror admiring what he saw. The imagine appeared to look a lot like Matthew, the son of Alexander. His skin was red and he wore raggedy clothes that seemed to have been singed. He had horns protruding from the top of his head. With a flick of his wrist the man’s clothes changed to a black tailored suit with a maroon tie.
He admired his face. “Well this won’t work here. I suppose I have to change this.” He snapped his fingers and his red skin began to fade back to his normal pale skin. He smirked, “Much better.”
His rather large muscles began to shrink. “Hello weak body. We meet again.” He laughed because this was only an illusion. He still had all his strength but he needed his family to believe him. He needed them to trust him. “I will make them pay for what they did. I will find you Maurelle and our kids. We will rule Magista together and later the world.
“She will need to be dark for all of this to work. She will never agree to this.”
He waves his hand once again and a dome was formed over the town. Just like the one Maeve had put up over the town earlier . “They won’t know a thing.” Unknown to Matthew, Maurelle’s magic was still affecting the town. She tried her best to hid her children from her father. Since Meave was also protecting Justin her spell didn’t affect him in the same way it affected everyone else. It made everyone forget. Justin often asked why no one remembered his brother and sister. Why didn’t they know what happened to his mom? Why didn’t they know if Justin could have magic? Why didn’t they know these things? In truth, they knew; however they forgot. They all forgot.
Call it witchcraft, spells, magic, whatever you call it, it has a funny way about it When Matthew came to the town his memories were also affected.
He looked in the mirror once again but this time the love that had been present in his eyes was gone. He had lost the love of his life. She was dead or so he thought. Angry grew in his as he blamed his parents for her death. “They abandoned you and Justin. They didn’t even try to help Gwen and Tommy.
He knew he had a wife, he knew his children but he could not see Maurelle’s face. He’s blind hated of the town was over taking him. “What did you do to her? Why can’t I see her?” He screamed over and over again. The pain of losing her was too great for him. “You will all pay for what you did to her? I will kill all of you and leave you to rot in the shadow realm.” As he cried on the floor he forgot.
